Gary Palgon, vice president of healthcare solutions, Liaison Healthcare, will discuss the use of cloud-based solutions for better access and analysis of big data during the 12th Annual BMS IT Symposium (BITCon).
Palgon’s presentation, titled “Big Data: Using Cloud-based Solutions for Better Access and analysis” will explore different innovative approaches to address business and IT initiatives in today’s pharmaceutical industry.
Big Data: Using Cloud-based Solutions for Better Access and Analysis
Overview: The amount of available patient information is skyrocketing as electronic health records and input devices increasingly are used to capture data. This presents an opportunity to develop large patient databases that—among other uses—can help accelerate pharmaceutical research and shorten time-to-market for beneficial new drugs. Unfortunately, however, a growing amount of data exists in unstructured, semi-structured and other formats that do not lend themselves to traditional relational databases.
Palgon will inform attendees about cloud-based models to aggregate, harmonize, and provide secure access to data that originate from a wide variety of sources and disparate systems. They will discover “big data” options for pharmaceutical research that use cloud-based Platform as a Service (PaaS) and cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) to ease and accelerate data access and analysis.
